What is Police Personnel Total Compensation?

This is the income an officer makes while employed with the City of Evanston. It covers their salary, payouts, overtime and allowances. Pension is not included as total compensation.

What is a payout?
A payout is a type of compensation for an officer who isn’t scheduled to be working but must stay sober and be able to be available for duty at police department headquarters within 90 minutes.

What is overtime?
Overtime is a type of compensation for an officer who has worked longer than their scheduled shift. They are compensated at a rate higher than their normal compensation for this additional worked time.

What is an allowance?
An allowance is a type of compensation given to an officer so they can maintain their uniform, education and certifications.
